About Us
The MHS Vocal Music Program has a strong tradition of excellence in performance, provides a high quality, well-rounded music education and is rooted in classical music techniques. The Vocal Music Program includes 175 singers, 6 choirs and various small singing groups. Genres of music performed include: classical (both sacred and secular), jazz, multi-cultural, spirituals, musical theater, barbershop, folk, patriotic, and pop. Choral/Vocal activities include: Fall Concert, Holiday Concert, Café Marina, Spring Pops Concert, an annual school-wide musical, valentine grams, holiday caroling, tours, festivals, and retreat weekends. The Marina choirs tour nearly every spring and have traveled both nationally and internationally. Recent tours have taken the Marina choirs to San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, New York, Vancouver and Victoria British Columbia, France and Spain.
The Director
Eric is in his 9th year as the Director of Choral and Vocal Music at Marina High School where he directs the Viking Chamber Choir, Concert Choir, Valkyrie Women’s Ensemble, Norseman Choir and the Siren Chorus. Under his direction the program has grown to include 170 singers, 6 choirs and various small singing groups.
The Staff
From assistant directors to piano accompanists and vocal teachers to jazz teachers, the Choral and Vocal Music program at Marina High School is lucky to have talented and professional staff to support the choirs through various levels of musical development and provide extended instruction to help students tune their skills.
